Hemet council adds two claims to closed session; provides settlement direction on separate item

The council voted to add two claims to the closed-session agenda and later reported it gave settlement direction on a separate closed-session item; there was no reportable action on the two added claims.
At the Feb. 11 meeting the Hemet City Council voted 5-0 to add two items to the closed session agenda: a claim by Kenneth Santiago and a claim by Maddie Lopez and Gloria Velasco.
Earlier in the meeting the city attorney asked the council to add the two claims, saying they were received after the public posting of the agenda. Mayor Pro Tem Carol Kendrick moved to add the items; Council Member Lodge seconded. The roll call vote to add the items was Krupa yes, Lodge yes, Mayles yes, Mayor Pro Tem Kendrick yes, Mayor Jackie Peterson yes.
Later, during the report out from closed session, the city attorney told the council that on item 5A the council had given settlement direction by a vote of 5-0. For the two items that were added to closed session, the city attorney said the council had "no reportable action" on those claims.
