Stormwater repairs at Fifth and Ransom streets: Staff reported a developing sinkhole at the intersection of Fifth and Ransom and additional storm pipe failure on a nearby private drive. The project was listed as high priority in the city's stormwater master plan. After soliciting bids, the council authorized the city manager to execute a contract with Tidewater Contractors for $51,500 to complete the work. Council discussed bid variances and noted one other bid was substantially higher; the motion carried.
Letter to Governor Kotek regarding Lone Ranch housing project: The council authorized the mayor to sign a letter asking the governor to suspend new requirements tied to a recently enacted wildfire hazard map so the Lone Ranch workforce housing project could proceed as planned. The council asked that copies be sent to the local state senator, state representative and legislative leaders; the motion carried. Council staff noted the development has been in planning since 2009 and said the original development plan identified roughly 990 units.
