Yolo Transit proposes sweeper buses for 7 p.m. ballgames to ease crowding

Barnbaum summarized Yolo TD staff’s plan: no new routes, but additional buses that run behind the scheduled 42A/42B trips and pick up remaining passengers when the regularly scheduled buses are full. He said there would be both eastbound and westbound sweepers; the westbound sweeper would run as far as UC Davis Memorial Union in Davis, and the eastbound sweeper would serve downtown Sacramento and the Golden 1 Center area.
Barnbaum also reminded the council that overlapping schedules for Sacramento Kings and Bay Area baseball games in April could increase demand on transit on several dates and that Yolo TD staff is developing marketing materials and coordination with West Sacramento and Sutter Health Park.
Why it matters: the measure is intended as an operational response to episodic crowding at large events; it does not create a new permanent route but adds capacity by running additional buses on event nights.
Ending: Barnbaum said he would stay for Councilmember presentations if the council wanted to follow up with YTD Chair Dante Early or staff.
