The Missoula City Council and the Missoula Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 24 jointly proclaimed March 2025 as “March for Meals Month,” recognizing Meals on Wheels at Missoula Aging Services (MAS) and urging residents to thank volunteer drivers and consider donating or volunteering.
The proclamation cited program statistics: Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers delivered 246,237 meals to 691 homebound individuals, and community lunch sites served 31,833 meals to 990 clients in Missoula County (figures noted in the council presentation).
Councilor Jordan, who serves as the council’s representative to the MAS board, told the council the agency “is struggling a bit with some of the federal cuts and changes that are happening” and urged donations and volunteer help to maintain services that help older residents remain in their homes.
Mayor and council members praised the community volunteers and encouraged residents to learn about MAS programs and opportunities to help. The proclamation invites the public to thank volunteer drivers and to consider volunteering so older adults and people with disabilities may continue to receive hot meals and welfare checks.
