Daggett County commissioners said they will reissue meeting packets and hold a public hearing on March 11 for a bond tied to the county water system after staff discovered the notice had been placed on the wrong agenda.
The hearing will cover a bond that commissioners said “directly affects the water users in that system” and includes transfers or movement of assets between the MVA and the county water treatment plant, commissioners said. Nicole (staff) told the panel, “The public hearing will be on the eleventh,” and that the commission could consider approving the bond at that meeting.
County staff and commissioners discussed logistics to make the hearing easier for residents to participate. Commissioners asked staff to coordinate with the town office to allow residents to attend virtually from the town building and to include instructions in the public-notice language. One commissioner suggested providing a dedicated place at the town office for people with sporadic internet access so they could “make comments virtually” or register to participate.
The scheduling change follows an administrative error the group identified after an earlier meeting: a resolution intended for the county agenda was placed on a different entity’s agenda. Kent Snyder said yesterday’s packets would be corrected and reissued with the proper agenda entries and dates. Commissioners acknowledged dates in some documents would shift by one week; staff said the new documents will show February 11 and March 11 dates where appropriate.
No formal vote on the bond occurred at the Feb. 4 meeting. Commissioners directed staff to reissue the packet with corrected dates, schedule the public hearing for March 11, and include instructions for virtual participation and town-office accommodations in the notice.
Looking ahead, staff said the packet and any corrected resolution language would be returned to the commission before the hearing so commissioners can act on the matter at the March 11 meeting if they choose.
