Planning commission denies appeal of The Pointe Apartments, upholds director's approval

The Oxnard City Planning Commission on Feb. 6 denied an appeal and upheld the Community Development Director's approval of a development design review permit for The Pointe Apartments, a proposed project at 2801 North Ochsner Boulevard within the River Park specific plan area.

Staff and the applicant argued that the project is consistent with the River Park specific plan and with Addendum No. 15 to the River Park environmental impact report (EIR), certified in 2022. Staff recommended that the commission find the project consistent with the addendum and therefore exempt from further environmental review under CEQA Guidelines sections 15.162–15.164 and 15.183. The commission voted to deny the appeal and adopt the staff recommendation.
