Planning commission approves sign theme for Boyer South Town 2 building on Centennial Parkway

The Sandy City Planning Commission on Wednesday approved a sign theme for the Boyer South Town 2 building at 10150 South Centennial Parkway that will allow multiple tenant signs on the multistory, multi-tenant building.

Spencer Summerhays, representing Boyer Company, told commissioners the building — originally built as a single-tenant fit-for-purpose facility for Aetna that has been remodeled — is being reconfigured for multiple tenants. "We are now working through a multi-tenanting process," Summerhays said. "Our plan is always, number one, meet city code."

Mike Wilcox, planning director, said staff had no concerns with the proposed sign locations and clarified that the sign theme approves locations; each tenant will still need to submit individual sign permits that meet Sandy City code. "Once they do have space they will have to submit for a sign permit, to put up the sign," Wilcox said.

The commission approved the request on a motion that referenced the two findings and three conditions in the staff report. Commissioners recorded votes in favor and the motion carried. Conditions require the applicant to meet the city's sign code at the time of permit application and to return for any future sign-theme amendments.

The commission’s approval allows the applicant to proceed with tenant sign permit applications in the approved locations; any additional signage would require an amendment to the sign theme.
