The Saratoga Springs City Council unanimously approved a consent change order that increases the Mountain View SR-73 corridor design contract total to $244,000 to complete full construction drawings.
Public works and planning staff told the council that the project originally had approximately $96,000 budgeted for a concept plan; the additional scope will advance the work to full construction documents. Staff said the General Ledger (GL) line associated with the project has a larger appropriation (staff cited $8,000,000 in the GL) and that no immediate increase to the fund budget is proposed for this change order. Staff clarified that the city often amends budgets after bids are received if construction costs exceed estimates, and any additional appropriation would be handled at the contract-award stage.
Councilman Macomber asked for clarification about why adding the $150,000 (the delta to reach $244,000) did not change the listed budget; staff acknowledged a typo in the original staff report and provided an updated report to be included in the packet. The council voted unanimously to approve the change order after the updated report was provided and staff clarified the budgeting process.
The change order (Change Order 1-3) was moved and seconded and the council recorded a unanimous yes vote; staff will finalize the updated staff report for the record.
