Council OKs amendment to Johnson County radio communications agreement

The Joshua City Council unanimously approved an amendment to the city's radio communication agreement with Johnson County, keeping the city on the county-operated system while the county completes a migration to a new radio platform.
A staff presenter said the amendment is an annual agreement administered through the sheriff's office and that the county has extended parts of the contract as it prepares a system-wide change. "This also is an annual radio communication agreement that we use, for the through the sheriff's office. And, as they ... move towards this new system, they've had to extend some things. And so we were just staying caught up agreeing to, staying on board until they're ready to make the switch," the presenter said.
A council member asked whether the city's fees had increased; the presenter replied, "I don't believe the fees did increase this year, no." Councilmember Shelley moved to approve the amendment; Councilmember Angela seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
No fee amounts or the amendment's effective dates were read into the record during the meeting.
