The Wyoming Area School District board held a reorganization meeting and, under Article 4 of the school code, elected its officers, named committee chairs, designated bank depositories and adopted a calendar of regular and work-session meetings.
The session installed Bill Campanelli as board president and Peter Butera as vice president. The board reappointed its secretary to a remaining term and elected Joe Copco as treasurer. Jared Ferentino was appointed school solicitor. The board designated People Security Bank and Trust and the Pennsylvania Local Government Investment Trust as official depositories.
Board members also appointed representatives and alternates to outside bodies and internal committees. The board named Peter Butera as the Pennsylvania School Boards Association liaison and selected representatives to the Westside Career and Technology Joint Operating Committee for one- and three-year terms. Joe Copco was appointed health trust alternate. Committee chairs named included Peter Butera (finance), Erica Gosna (education), Mara Valente (activities), Kirby Kunkel (buildings and grounds), Dave Alvarajii (bids), Mike Ichmarski (policy), Michael Supe (technology) and Joe Copco (police).
The board adopted a schedule of regular and work-session meetings to be held in the Secondary Center Auditorium. The work sessions were listed for January 21, February 18, March 18, April 15, May 22, June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21 and November 18. Regular meetings were scheduled for January 21, February 25, March 25, April 22, May 22, June 24, July 22, August 26, September 23 and October 28. The board also set a combined work-session/regular meeting for Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, and noted that dates, times and locations are subject to change.
All listed nominations and appointments were moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the meeting. Members voted each item on the record; motion results were announced as passed for each appointment and designation. The board also set the reorganization meeting for the following year (Dec. 3, 2025, 6:00 p.m.) and a combined December meeting on Dec. 16, 2025, per the calendar announced during the session.
Board members publicly thanked outgoing board president Mike Soupey for his service during the prior year. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that was seconded and carried.
