The Joshua City Council voted unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement that continues the city's participation in a regional STOP offender program and special crimes unit.
A presenter told the council the agreement continues prior practice and formalizes the city's representation on the task force. "Our representative, voting representative on their board is police chief, typically. And then, the DA and county attorney, round off every city where the representative has a voice on the board also," the presenter said.
Officials said the city recently had an officer return to the task force and that the special crimes unit led a response to a recent incident at a local hotel. The presenter said the unit sends a monthly report showing arrests and activity; staff promised to make that monthly report available to council members who were not receiving it.
Councilmember Mike moved to approve the interlocal agreement; Councilmember Johnny seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
