Pattern Energy starts Ocotillo turbine blade replacement; county says deliveries will occur evenings with police escorts

Imperial County public information officer Eddie Lopez told the board that Pattern Energy has begun a wind-turbine blade and component replacement project at the Ocotillo Wind facility as part of routine maintenance to enhance operational efficiency.
Lopez said the work will occur in two phases: Phase 1 from January through March 2025 and Phase 2 in fall 2025. He said turbine delivery vehicles will operate primarily between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and that vehicles would exit the site between about 9 a.m. and noon, with occasional Sunday deliveries.
County staff said Pattern Energy is coordinating with Caltrans to minimize disruptions and that deliveries will be escorted by police as required by state regulations; no road closures or scheduled traffic stoppages are anticipated in Ocotillo. Lopez said the county is coordinating messaging with fire and other county agencies regarding brush clearance and community alerts related to the activity.
