Robert Dicke, chair of the House Agriculture & Consumer Affairs Committee, opened the committee’s session and led members through housekeeping items, including a vote to approve the committee’s standing rules.
The committee’s roster includes several new members who introduced themselves and their agricultural ties. After a brief discussion about quorum challenges later in the session, Dicke asked for a motion to adopt the rules. A motion and a second were made and the chair called for the voice vote: “All in favor say aye.” Members responded and the chair declared the motion to approve the rules passed.
Dicke told new members the committee meets at 8 a.m. on Wednesdays and asked legislators with bills to notify his office in advance so meetings run efficiently. He also announced a committee dinner in February and mentioned several ag-related events around the capitol.
The chair noted scheduling conflicts with other standing committees and asked members to review the proposed committee rules in their folders ahead of the next meeting. He also noted staff resources available to members, including Budget Policy staff and committee counsel.
The meeting adjourned after brief additional announcements about upcoming events and scheduling.
