The City of Stockton Parks and Recreation Commission voted at its Jan. 27 meeting to reappoint President Calder and to keep Vice President Lockwood in the vice-presidency for the 2025 calendar year, and approved the minutes from its Dec. 16, 2024 meeting.
Commission business opened with the consent calendar. Vice President Lockwood moved to approve the Dec. 16, 2024 minutes; the motion was seconded by Council Member Padilla and carried without opposition. The commission then considered leadership for the 2025 term. Vice President Lockwood nominated keeping the current leadership “as status quo,” recommending President Calder remain president and Lockwood stay as vice president. The commission voted to approve the recommendation with no recorded opposition.
Commissioners discussed internal rules that limit leadership positions to lay members and recommend rotation over time; commissioners noted the rules allow the full commission to continue an incumbent if no new nominations are made. After the leadership vote, President Calder said, “I will do you proud being your fearless leader once again.”
The meeting concluded with routine business and adjournment at 6:24 p.m.
