At its Jan. 8, 2025 meeting the City of Brooksville Planning and Zoning Commission conducted annual organizational business and re-elected John as chair before selecting Lee as vice chair.

Commissioners completed the two votes separately after a call for nominations. A commissioner moved to keep the board leadership "the way it is" and another commissioner said their vote "would be to keep John as the chair." That motion was seconded and the chair vote was recorded as "aye" and passed. Later the commission nominated Lee for vice chair; the nomination was seconded and commissioners voted "aye," confirming Lee as vice chair.

Both elections were routine, conducted at the start of the meeting as part of the commission's annual organizational items. The minutes for previous meetings (Sept. 11, 2024 and Nov. 13, 2024) were also approved earlier in the session.

The commission then moved on to training on sunshine law, public records, ethics and quasi-judicial procedures and later to substantive agenda items, including a recommendation on Ordinance 992 relating to downtown overlays and outdoor dining.
