Tempe Elementary Governing Board swears in members, elects Allison Muir president and Ray Thiry vice president

The Tempe Elementary School District Governing Board convened and performed a ceremonial swearing-in for three governing board members before reorganizing leadership and approving routine business.
Mayor Corey Woods administered the oath to newly seated members Lisonbee Ewers, Jim Lemon and Ray Thiry. After the oath, the board proceeded to reorganize. Charlotte nominated Allison Muir to serve as board president, a nomination Jim Lemon seconded; Muir accepted. The motion carried following the roll call vote.
Board members then nominated and elected Ray Thiry as vice president. Jim Lemon moved to nominate Thiry, Charlotte seconded, and the motion carried.
The board also approved the meeting agenda at the start of the session by motion, voted to modify and approve the minutes of the Dec. 18, 2024, meeting, and approved the consent agenda. The minutes and consent agenda votes were recorded as four in favor and one abstention (Thiry abstained on the December 18 minutes), per the board secretary’s statement during the meeting.
Outgoing 2024 board president Eric Miller received thanks during the meeting for his leadership and for supporting district initiatives including boundary adjustments, school rebuilds and grant-funded projects. Miller commented that supporting students and staff was his principal motivation during his service.
The meeting included community acknowledgments and schedule notices for upcoming district events and meetings.
