MADERA — The Madera County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 Tuesday to adopt a side letter agreement with the mid-management bargaining unit that redesignates 12 county classifications from overtime-exempt to overtime-eligible and phases out management leave for those positions over three fiscal years.
Sabrina Mendez, human resources manager, told the board the side letter implements changes recommended in a recent classification and compensation study. The letter phases out receipt of management leave for impacted employees across three fiscal years, concluding in fiscal year 2027–28, Mendez said.
The board had no public comments on the item and approved the side letter by roll call vote. No further implementation details were provided at the meeting; Human Resources staff said they were available to answer follow-up questions.
What happens next: Human Resources will implement the reclassifications and the phased management-leave changes consistent with the negotiated side letter and the county’s payroll process.
