The Norwich Historic District Commission on May 21 approved a COA for the installation of aluminum gutters and downspouts at a Washington Street property, with the applicant saying the new system will match the house color and be largely hidden from public view.
The applicant, Glenn, provided an extensive set of photographs showing the proposed gutter runs (marked in blue) and downspout locations (marked in red) and said the units would be three-inch-by-four-inch aluminum downspouts and wide-mouth outlets intended for higher water flow. “The color will match,” Glenn said while displaying photos and noted that most run along the sides and rear of the house and would not be visible from the street.
Commissioners thanked the applicant for the thorough documentation and said precedent exists for aluminum gutters when other materials are not feasible. The commission moved to accept the application as presented.
Votes at a glance: The motion to accept the COA passed unanimously; roll-call votes were recorded in favor by Commissioners Megan, John, Tyler, Kate and Chairman Regan Minor.
The commission noted no further conditions; the applicant will receive formal notification by email after the meeting.
