North Logan gets $400,000 BOR design grant; treatment plant work and 4-million-gallon tank advance

Public-works staff updated the North Logan City Council on capital projects for the city's water system at the Jan. 15 meeting, reporting a major design grant and progress on plant and storage projects.

Jordan (staff member) told the council the city was awarded a $400,000 Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) grant to support design work for a tank, a well and associated waterlines. Jordan said the city has awarded a contract for a contact chamber at the treatment plant to DWA; work on that component is scheduled to begin March 1. He reported the division of drinking water was reviewing design plans for a planned 4,000,000-gallon storage tank and that geologic trenching in the proposed area did not show a problematic fault location.

Jordan said the tank design will go out to bid after state review and that construction is anticipated to begin in June, subject to final approvals and bids.

Council discussion touched on state review timelines and the division of drinking water's role in approving tank designs. No council vote was required for these informational updates.
