Planning commission approves Bash Park site plan, amends final plat for Dixie Springs; tables Orchards at Elm Valley

Hurricane City Planning Commission took three formal actions Jan. 23: it tabled a preliminary plat for the Orchards at Elm Valley, approved a preliminary site plan for Bash Park, and approved an amended final plat combining two Dixie Springs lots.
The commission unanimously agreed to the applicant’s request to table PSP25-02 (The Orchards at Elm Valley). Carl Rasmussen, the applicant’s agent, told the commission the owners and staff are continuing to revise the plan and asked for a continuance to the next meeting; commissioners voted to table the matter without further debate.
On PSP25-03, the preliminary site plan for Bash Park (a park at the southeast corner of Bash Parkway and Glampers Way), the applicant said the principal amenity will be a large ball field and that a landscape architect has been retained to finalize plantings and irrigation. City staff and the applicant said the park will be funded and constructed through the project’s PID (public improvement district) funds and will be dedicated to the city for operation; commissioners approved the preliminary site plan subject to staff and JUC comments.
The commission also approved AFP25-01, an amended final plat to combine Dixie Springs Plat B Lots 122 and 123 at 2689 South Wilson Drive, so the owner could construct accessory buildings on what will become a single lot. The motion carried subject to staff and trustee comments.
Separately, commissioners made a motion to formally thank departing commissioners Michelle Cloud and Rebecca Broadman for eight years of service; the motion passed unanimously.
