The Genola Planning Commission adopted its 2025 meeting schedule, maintaining meetings on the first Thursday of each month but moving two dates that conflict with holidays or low attendance: the July meeting and the January 2026 meeting will be held on the second Thursday of those months.
Staff explained the rationale: July meetings often conflict with Independence Day observances and attendance can be low; the January 1, 2026 meeting would fall on a holiday and was better moved. Commissioners also discussed how moving the commission meeting one week later affects the timing of town-council review and public hearing schedules; staff said the change still provides adequate time to prepare council packets.
The commission also asked that the new Development Review Committee (DRC) meet as needed, typically immediately before the planning commission meeting (e.g., 6:00 p.m.) when there are active items to review. Commissioners agreed the DRC would be scheduled only on an as-needed basis and would not meet if there were no items.
A motion to set the 2025 meeting dates with the two exceptions moved to the second Thursday was made, seconded and adopted by voice vote.
