The vote followed a motion by board member Danielle Wright and a second from board member Connie Archibald. "I make a motion that we approve Veil Stevens for business administrator for the Box Elder School District beginning on 01/02/2025," Wright said. The motion passed with all members voting in favor.
The superintendent told the board that an offer letter had been given to Stevens and that Stevens had accepted pending the board's approval. The superintendent summarized the terms: a salary of $162,000; vacation, sick and personal leave to be divided in half and prorated because the hire begins mid‑year; the same insurance package offered to other district employees; and a district contribution of 1.5% to the 401(k) plan. The superintendent also noted it was likely Stevens was already participating in the Utah State Board of Education retirement/benefits program.
Board members confirmed a quorum was present for the vote; one member, Karen, was absent due to a doctor's appointment but was listening by phone. After the approval, board members arranged to sign hiring paperwork the following Thursday morning at 10:15.
The meeting opened with approval of the agenda and concluded with a unanimous motion to adjourn.
