Board of Bids accepts contracts for detention laundry work, fire-alarm services and others

The Sedgwick County Board of County Commissioners approved recommendations from the Board of Bids and Contracts following its Jan. 9 meeting. Purchasing Director Joe Thomas presented four items the commission approved by roll call vote.
The approvals included: acceptance of proposals for prevention and early intervention services for the Department of Corrections from multiple providers; a one-year extension of an existing contract for tax-foreclosure title search services with Security First Title LLC (extension from March 17, 2025 through March 16, 2026); awarding fire-alarm testing and inspection services to Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP (one-year contract with three one-year renewal options); and acceptance of a $75,000 quote from RJ Cool Midwest (RJ Cool Company) for laundry dryer replacements and boiler removal at the adult detention facility (option 2).
Commission discussion noted that the selected dryer vendor bid included structural work required to reinstall equipment, and that the lowest-priced bid had omitted that essential scope. Commissioner Howell moved to approve the Board of Bids recommendations and the board approved the motion; the vote was unanimous.
