City staff reported that an eight‑person selection panel chose AKS from three bids to prepare the city’s parks master plan. Staff said contract negotiations are underway.
The city administrator also told the council that an update to the lighting ordinance was returned to the planning commission to address council concerns and that the commission will hold a public hearing on Jan. 27. Staff said the ordinance will then come back to the council at the February meeting.
Staff said the city is negotiating a temporary IT contractor agreement to cover interim needs while a longer‑term contractor is selected; the agreement is being drafted by the city attorney and was described as a cost saving compared with other options.
Planning staff reported ongoing work on Title 11 and on DLCD grant tasks tied to the comprehensive plan. The citizen advisory committee established under that grant will meet a fourth time in January because earlier meetings took longer than planned. A public hearing that had been scheduled for December on gas‑station related items was postponed to Jan. 27; a separate variance request and a Cycle Oregon kiosk request also are on upcoming agendas.
Staff noted that the city’s contract planner has retired and that the city is seeking a contract planner to fill that role.
The report referenced several routine and community events from December and directed readers to the council packet for full written reports and month‑end statistics.
