The city council voted to send a letter of opposition on Senate Bill 79, a bill authored by State Senator Scott Wiener concerning rules for transit-oriented development. Staff provided a sample letter from California Cities as a template and council members authorized sending the letter to Senator Wiener and copying the area Assembly and Senate members named in the staff report.
Council member Mersch requested the item be agendized; council members discussed the appropriate recipients and suggested sending copies to Assembly Member Albert (name in packet) and Senator Ben Allen as well. One council member noted the regional body’s action and urged the city to place a copy with the assembly representative.
A motion to send the letter in opposition and to copy local legislators carried unanimously.
