Student representative Jordan Prince updated the board on North Bend High School activities, including wins for boys and girls basketball in recent games, a wrestling season start and an upcoming Coast Classic tournament. Prince said North Bend will host a swim meet Saturday and that the high school band and choir will perform a winter concert and host a toy drive at the Egyptian Theatre in Coos Bay on Dec. 19.
The board acknowledged teacher and staff nominees for the district’s "extra mile" recognitions. Julie Enns, TOSA at Bridges, was nominated for her student outreach, career-related learning coordination and role on the CARE team. Stephanie McCord was recognized for providing reading interventions and supporting resources across the building; she was nominated by Leah Johnson.
Separately, union and staff representatives praised building teams — notably at Hillcrest — for how staff managed student safety and dismissal during the recent tsunami warning. The board thanked staff and the distinguished teams for their response.
No board action was required on the student report or recognitions; these were informational and ceremonial items on the agenda.
