The Stewartville Public School District school board approved items 10 through 24 as a single omnibus motion, covering routine annual designations and administrative authorizations.
The omnibus approval included: designation of representatives to the Minnesota State High School League; selection of the district attorney; designation of legal depositories for district funds; authorization for the superintendent, human resources coordinator and board treasurer to access the district safety deposit box; wire and electronic funds transfer authorizations for the superintendent and business director between board meetings; investment authority for district funds not needed for current expenses; statutory duties for the clerk; authorization for facsimile and bitmap signatures; designation of the Circle Star as the district’s official newspaper; Central Education Center as the posting place for notices; Minnesota School Boards Association membership; employee participation in tax-sheltered annuities; establishment of the mileage rate at 67¢ per mile; and meal reimbursement limits.
Board members discussed the mileage rate briefly; the board opted to keep the district rate at 67¢ per mile after review of fuel costs. The omnibus motion was moved and seconded and carried by unanimous vote (7-0).
The board also read Policy 209, the School Board Code of Ethics, and reviewed conference logistics for the MSBA conference, including lodging, reimbursement forms and session scheduling.
