City of Terrell and Kaufman County agree to coordinate on thoroughfare map; item deferred

Knapp said Terrell seeks better alignment between the city’s thoroughfare plan and the county map so roadways will connect properly outside the city limits; he suggested a coordinated approach, including a workshop with affected cities and county departments to create a more unified, cost‑effective map. The city representative noted the city is under design for a second bridge on the north side (Las Lomas Parkway over Highway 80) to add a second link across the highway.

Commissioners and staff discussed the costs of repeated map updates and the need to produce a map that reflects likely development and right‑of‑way needs instead of an idealized plan. County staff and the city agreed to meet and coordinate before returning the item for future court consideration; the court took no final action on the amendments at this meeting.
