Staff to monitor 2025 state session and provide feedback to federal paid‑leave working group drafts

Maddie said the authority did not file its own legislative proposal for 2025 but has been briefing caucuses and plans to continue outreach to lawmakers. Staff will continue sending a monthly legislative newsletter to inform legislators about program status, recent news and events.
On federal activity, the board heard that the House bipartisan paid‑leave working group released two discussion drafts before the holidays: a Paid Family Leave Public‑Private Partnerships Act (creating a grant program to incent state public‑private models) and an Interstate Paid Leave Action Network Act (iPLAN) to improve coordination among state paid‑leave programs. Staff emphasized these are draft documents (not yet introduced legislation) and said the working group solicited comments by Jan. 10. The authority plans to submit feedback highlighting Connecticut’s program features and operations to inform the working group’s consideration.
Board members had no substantive questions during the update. Staff said they will report back to the board as proposals emerge that could affect the authority’s operations.
