Members proposed a number of editorial and clarity edits to the draft, including wording changes on the report’s first page, consistency in punctuation for recommendations, an added sentence noting that some residents need “even more support,” and removal of the word “initial” from a list reference in the epilogue. Those edits were adopted as part of the board’s approval.
The board discussed distribution and public access. City staff said the approved report will be included on the City Council agenda for June 10 and that the city can share the document more broadly after the board’s approval. A resident raised a technical point about stockpiling potable water, noting that containers filled by residents and stored for months can support algae or mold growth; the resident cited CDC guidance and recommended clarifying language. Board members said the report is not intended to offer technical water-preservation instructions and agreed to preserve the epilogue language while noting the resident’s concern for future, more detailed guidance.
The board voted to approve the final draft as amended and to present it to City Council. The roll-call vote recorded each member in favor.
Separately, the board voted to cancel its June meeting and resume its regular schedule on August 20, citing the upcoming City Council presentation and the city’s summer schedule. The motion to skip the June meeting passed unanimously.
Staff said the report will be publicly available as part of the council agenda and that the board’s chair and other members are encouraged to attend the June 10 presentation. The board discussed the preferred presentation format — timeline, highlights and recommended items — and staff said City Council would likely be flexible on time allotment for the presentation.
