Lake County commissioners approve five-year, $242,950 Axon contract for sheriff’s office

Lake County commissioners on Thursday approved a five-year, $242,950.36 contract with Axon Enterprise, Inc. to provide body-worn cameras, TASER devices and an evidence-management platform for the sheriff’s office. The board voted to approve the agreement after commissioners discussed warranty, upgrade and payment provisions and asked staff to secure a written replacement plan before final signature.

The contract covers a 60-month (five-year) term with payments made annually as a lump sum that the county cannot recover if it later terminates the agreement. Commissioners were told the first-year payment will be about $30,000 (after a roughly $22,000 credit from an overlapping prior payment), with subsequent annual payments of about $53,000 built into the sheriff’s budget.
