The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) told a U.N. briefing that its peacekeepers found multiple weapons caches and have assisted local communities in accessing agricultural land along the Blue Line.
UNIFIL said that, since the cessation of hostilities took effect, peacekeepers discovered 251 weapons and ammunition caches that were reported to the Lebanese Armed Forces and that some caches were destroyed in situ. In Sector East, U.N. personnel reported finding rocket launchers, three underground tunnels, rockets, anti‑tank missiles and explosive devices at two locations.
The briefing also said UNIFIL observed Israeli Defence Forces military activity in its area of operations, reporting four projectiles and two airstrikes on a recent day. Separately, UNIFIL reported helping dozens of farmers — “about 20” on one recent day — in the village of Marwahin in Sector West to access their land and agricultural assets along the Blue Line; the briefing said that access was arranged with the Lebanese and Israeli armies.
As part of community support, UNIFIL donated medical supplies, including personal protective equipment and essential medicines, to Marsha Yoon public hospital, the briefing said. UNIFIL also reported facilitating over 90 humanitarian missions in its area of operations since November.
The briefing did not announce any new changes to the mandate of UNIFIL or new Security Council action.
