Rae James thanked commissioners for town-hall outreach and said residents need clear, district-specific briefings about what opting in or out would mean for taxpayers. Several commenters asked the board to present countywide tallies of how many townhomes, apartments and commercial approvals exist by district to inform future decisions.
Trash pickup and solid-waste contractor complaints
Several speakers, including Orlando Gooding and Mickey Garber, reported missed neighborhood pickups and unresponsive private trash haulers (identified in public comments as TNR South). Commissioners and staff said they would refer the complaints to code enforcement and follow up with the speaker to investigate contractor performance.
Utility billing and veteran housing
Priscilla Stallworth described confusion over Atlanta Gaslight billing and asked county staff to connect her with resources; the chairwoman asked an operations official to follow up. Judith Cotton, speaking as a member of the Clayton County Veterans Advisory Board, urged county leaders to pursue the HUD VASH supportive-housing program for veterans, noting neighboring jurisdictions operate the program and Clayton County does not.
