The Saline County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to accept staff recommendations and award bids for 2025 pipe culvert materials and galvanized end sections.
County maintenance and engineering staff recommended awarding the pipe culvert and dimple bands bid to Well Worn Sales for $24,770.04 and awarding galvanized pipe end sections to J & J Drainage Products for $10,933.00, for a combined total of $35,703.04. The materials will be held as county inventory for use by maintenance crews on crossroad and entrance pipes.
Engineering staff told commissioners prices rose compared with last year, estimating a roughly 1325 to 1425 increase for pipes and a larger percentage increase for end sections, which staff attributed mainly to smaller quantities being ordered this cycle. Staff said maintenance has adjusted inventory levels and recommended purchasing from the county27s 125 account (the two-mill fund), which had an unencumbered balance of $1,482,000.92 at the time of the meeting.
A county motion to approve the bid award carried on a unanimous voice vote.
