Fiscal court approves hire, accepts termination and processes reappointments

County human-resources staff presented a full-time hire: Cecil Slayton, previously a seasonal parks employee, was offered a full-time Equipment Operator I position at the road department at $18 per hour effective immediately. A magistrate moved to hire Slayton and the court approved the motion by voice.
The court also voted to accept the termination of Richard Mead at landfill control, effective Nov. 30, 2024. The judge said the termination was due to a medical circumstance and not disciplinary action. The court recorded the termination by vocal affirmation.
The resignation of Paul Kerr from the police department effective Dec. 3, 2024, was noted by the court.
On board appointments the court reappointed Joe Ender to the ambulance taxing district board (term to expire Nov. 20, 2026), reappointed Jason Greer to the Oldham County Water District (term to expire February [date not specified in transcript]), reappointed James Fackler to the extension district board, and appointed Charles (Charlie) Ward to the extension district board. Each appointment was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
