Polk County resident urges commissioners to demand transparency from district attorney’s office

Robert Greenway, a Polk County resident, told the Polk County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 17 that he believes the county’s district attorney’s office has not provided written evidence to support accusations he said were made against him.
"You have a DA's office that runs amok," Greenway said during the board's public-comment period. He said he recently met with "Mister Pope" about the matter and that the information the board had provided to him included no names, no written notes and no phone logs documenting who spoke with the prosecutor's office.
Greenway described the information he said the county relied on as "secondhand knowledge," and asked commissioners, "Where's the transparency?" He told the board the lack of written records made it impossible to verify what was reported to law-enforcement officers.
The board did not record any response to Greenway's remarks in the meeting transcript. After public comment concluded, the meeting moved on to routine agenda items.
Greenway's comments were made during the public-comment portion of the Polk County Board of Commissioners' Dec. 17 meeting and were not part of a formal agenda item or vote.
