Fiscal court approves Safe Streets for All resolution; county to receive regional crash analysis from KIPDA

Oldham County approved a resolution to participate in the Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA) Safe Streets for All effort and to accept county-specific crash analysis provided through the regional study.
County engineer Jim Silliman presented county data from the regional consultant, saying that for 2018 through 2022 there were 4,364 reported vehicle crashes in Oldham County, including 25 fatalities and 65 serious injuries. Silliman noted the consultant’s analysis excluded Interstate 71 (though it may include ramps); a committee member clarified that the 25 fatal crashes cited do not include incidents on I-71.
Silliman said the regional Safe Streets for All grant program supplied data-mining and mapping that will help the county pursue future action grants or state funding. He asked the court to authorize Judge Executive David Vogel to sign a resolution recognizing the findings and supporting continued work on street-safety improvements. A magistrate noted the road committee gave a unanimous positive recommendation.
The court approved the resolution (identified in the meeting as resolution number 121,724) by vocal affirmation. Silliman said final program materials and a refined county report will be available in the spring/second quarter of 2025 to support follow-on grant applications.
