Lexington council approves multiple grants, contracts, personnel changes and capital bids

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council on Feb. 20 approved a slate of ordinances and resolutions authorizing personnel changes, grants, contracts and capital project bids.

Other approved items included a $89,686.94 bid award to Elaine Allen LLC for Cadentown School improvements; a professional services agreement for a roof-mounted solar photovoltaic system at Fire Station No. 19 with Man Solar for $31,217.68; and a purchase of a software platform from Routeware Inc. for $124,432 for the division of waste management. The council also authorized acceptance of $576,000 in federal funds for the Brighton Trail connection project, which obligates a $144,000 local match.

Council members moved several suspensions of the rules during the meeting to advance individual items to second reading and final vote. Council member Baxter moved to suspend rules and give second reading for item 37 (the crisis intervention grant) and item 39 (an on-call contract for sexual assault nurse examiners); Council member Morton moved to suspend the rules for the Dunbar Community Center bid (item 32); and the administration moved to suspend rules for the Veterans Park design agreement (item 20).
