The Marion County Planning & Zoning Commission on a voice vote approved a special-use permit for Spar United Methodist Church to install four RV spaces and electrical hookups to host out-of-area volunteer groups.
The permit allows a maximum of four RVs on site for up to six weeks at a time, up to two separate times per year, and requires the church to notify Growth Services in writing before each use. Growth Services staff recommended approval with conditions including that the RVs be self-contained and that any lighting additions require a photometric plan.
The application, brought before the commission as case 250301SU, covers a 1.07-acre parcel at 13130 Northeast Jacksonville Road in Citra in a Regional Business (B-4) zone within Marion County’s farmland preservation overlay. Kathleen Bernoli, Growth Services planner, told the commission that the RV hookups would not connect to on-site wastewater and that occupancies must be self-contained with off-site disposal. Bernoli said the special-use permit would run with the church and would be nullified if the church parcel were sold or subdivided.
