City announces audit, budget work, West 94 open house and March City Hall ribbon cutting

City Administrator Dustin Scott gave routine administrative updates Jan. 20, reporting that the finance team has begun the 2024 audit with Eide Bailey and that staff have started the 2026 budget preparation process with updated templates and an earlier schedule for department submissions.
Scott said Metro COG is holding an open house Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rustad Center (presentation at 5:30 p.m.) to review the West 94/Interstate 94 area transportation study and invited commissioners and residents to participate in the online survey and open house. He also reminded commissioners that the City Hall ribbon cutting and open house is scheduled for March 17 with a chamber ribbon cutting at 4 p.m., tours of the new City Hall and a mobile command unit on site.
Scott said staff will return budget materials to the commission in advance of the May budget process and noted finance is aiming for an earlier start this year. He also referenced coordination with ambulance and regional partners on emergency response staging and noted ongoing discussions about whether to create a separate city auditor position in future budgets.
