Mike Meekins, senior planner in Current Planning, provided a brief status update to the Environmental Matters Committee on Feb. 19 on a set of ongoing development projects.
Meekins said Grissom Square (corner of Taylor and Bay Ridge/Tyler) remains in the pipeline but construction has been delayed while project engineers reworked a storm-drain alignment; the work requires a traffic-control plan and other logistical steps because the site is at a congested intersection. Meekins did not provide a construction start date and said scheduling will depend on the contractor and public-works coordination.
Meekins said Rocky Gorge is not a dead project, that some permits remain active, and that the city is open to revised plans or a new developer; grading permits would need to be reapplied for and reviewed before mass work could proceed.
On The Willows, Meekins said construction is underway and building and grading activity is in progress; he did not provide an estimated completion date and said he would follow up with a schedule. Providence Point remains under administrative review for building and grading permits, Meekins said, but an outstanding appeal involving the Forest Conservation Act is unresolved; the developer is continuing reviews "at risk" while the appeal proceeds.
Meekins also confirmed the Eastport Shopping Center site has state-level involvement related to historical gas-station contamination and indicated some mediation or remediation processes were ongoing.
Committee members requested earlier circulation of project reports and asked planning staff to follow up with likely dates and next steps on several items, including Grissom Square construction sequencing and the Willows completion timeline.
