Law enforcement agencies across California, including the Los Angeles Police Department, reported results from a coordinated campaign called “Reclaim and Rebuild” targeting human trafficking. Officials said the intensive multiagency operation led to arrests and the rescue of trafficking victims, and local nonprofits will provide aftercare and trauma‑informed services.
Speakers at a press conference described the operation as statewide and multiagency. Officials said approximately 77 victims were rescued across the state during the operation; 11 of those were described as children, and some victims were rescued within minutes of the areas where officials were speaking. Locally, the operation resulted in more than 70 arrests “along the Figueroa Corridor,” speakers said.
One community partner at the press conference, Zoe International, described aftercare services it provides, including trauma‑informed counseling, housing, education and job training for minors who had been commercially trafficked. “Zoe International provides aftercare for kids who've been commercially trafficked. We have a home that's dedicated that provides trauma‑informed counseling, safe loving environment, education, job training, therapy,” the organization said.
Speakers emphasized that the work is ongoing: officials reported a 33% year‑over‑year increase in rescues and noted the youngest victim recovered during operations was 14. Officials urged community members to report suspicious activity and provided reporting options, including LAPD online reporting and a regional tip line; exact contact details were read at the event.
No court filings or charges were detailed at the press conference; law enforcement representatives said arrests were made and that identifying traffickers and rescuing victims remained the operation’s priorities. Aftercare and reunification services for victims will be coordinated with the Department of Children and Family Services and nonprofit partners.
