City staff presented four candidate economic-development slogans and the Economic Development Committee discussed wording and audience before agreeing by consensus to forward three options to the Beaumont City Council for final consideration.
Julie Van Hook, the city's public information officer, told the committee that a concise slogan can capture the city's economic position and help at an upcoming retail conference. She read the four staff-proposed options: “elevated and moving fast at the pace of business,” “elevated and business ready,” “elevating business, empowering dreams,” and “elevate your vision, build your future.”
Committee members suggested tweaks and alternatives. One member suggested “elevating your vision and building your dreams.” Another proposed flipping the order to “build your vision, elevate your future.” A separate suggestion reworked one option to “elevating business, growing community.” Committee members emphasized that the final phrasing should clearly address businesses as the target audience and suggested that multiple options be passed along for council to choose from.
The committee reached informal consensus to forward three slogan variants to council: a version of the staff option refined to “elevating business, growing community”; a present-tense participle version phrased as “elevating your vision, building your future” (notes indicated “future/dreams” were acceptable alternatives); and the flipped phrasing “build your vision, elevate your future.” No formal vote was taken on a single winner; staff will include the committee’s suggested variants in a packet to council.
Action: staff will present the three preferred slogan options to the City Council for final selection; staff also will provide any supporting market-material mock-ups if requested.
