Davenport School of the Arts seeks approval to name music building for former principal Brian E. Kier

Davenport School of the Arts principal Brayton asked the Polk County School Board to approve naming the school's music building for retired principal Brian E. Kier.

Brayton described Kier’s tenure at Davenport, saying he led the transition of a failing school into an arts‑centered campus and “was an advocate for the arts. He believed in developing the entire child.” Brayton said Kier served as principal from 1998 to February 2018 (with specific service dates presented in the board materials) and noted that Kier “set up the administrative career for me 17 years ago where I could learn and grow as a leader.”
