Durham County General Services Deputy Director Crystal Thomas introduced Evan Kramer as the new manager of Durham County Memorial Stadium at the Board of Commissioners meeting on Feb. 10, 2025.
Thomas said Kramer "graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill" with degrees in sports administration and management and holds a master's degree in parks, recreation, tourism and sports management from North Carolina State University. She noted Kramer joined Durham County General Services as event coordinator in November 2022 and had served as acting stadium manager for the previous three months. Thomas said Kramer led or supported major events including the CIAA track and field championship and North Carolina High School Athletic Association lacrosse championships.
Kramer told the board, "It's an honor to be selected for this position. And reiterate, I'm really excited to continue the work of growing and developing the stadium. I think it's a great resource for the local community and a great asset for the county." Commissioners thanked Kramer and said they look forward to new ideas to make the stadium more accessible for residents.
No formal board vote was recorded for the appointment; the introduction was presented as a ceremonial item and Kramer will serve as the stadium manager under General Services.
