Board approves four personnel-related resolutions after executive session; suspension ordered for employee

The Kingston City School District Board of Education voted on four personnel resolutions after returning from executive session on Feb. 5. The board adopted the resolutions in separate roll-call motions.
The board approved BOE 36 and BOE 37 (appointments of outside hearing officers pursuant to Section 75 of the New York State Civil Service Law) and BOE 39 (appointment of David N. Stein, Esq., as hearing officer for employee number 5358). The board also approved BOE 40, which directs the district to suspend employee number 5358 without pay beginning Feb. 6, 2025, "for the maximum period permitted by the New York State Civil Service Law during the months of the employee's paid work year and then with pay during the pendency of these proceedings if during a time when the employee would otherwise be paid," per the motion text presented at the meeting.
Board president called each resolution, trustees verbally responded "Aye" and the chair announced each resolution had passed.
In regular business the board approved minutes from Jan. 8 and Jan. 22 and accepted the consent agenda. The consent agenda included personnel items and five donations totaling several thousand dollars to schools and the district, which the board accepted "with grateful appreciation." The board announced the consent agenda had passed by voice vote.
