Boise council confirms appointments to boards and adopts building-code ordinances

BOISE, Idaho — At its Feb. 4 meeting, Boise City Council approved multiple appointments and reappointments to city boards and commissions and adopted three city ordinances updating building-code provisions.
Appointments and reappointments
The council approved the following appointments by unanimous consent or recorded votes: Alicia Records was appointed to the Boise Municipal Health Care Trust for a two-year term ending Dec. 31, 2026 (appointment approved by unanimous consent). Luke Howarth was reappointed to the City of Boise Ethics Commission for a four-year term ending February 2029 (without objection). Latonya Haney Keith was reappointed to the Capital City Development Corporation for a five-year term ending February 2030 (without objection). Chris Stanley was reappointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a four-year term ending Feb. 23, 2029 (without objection).
Revised findings
Council approved revised findings for CVA 24-25, reflecting the council's earlier January 14 decision to approve a variance and instruct staff to return with revised findings. The motion to approve the revised findings carried on roll call.
Ordinances
On third reading the council approved three ordinances described on the record as updates to the city's building- and energy-related codes: ORD-2-25 (amendments to Title 9 Chapter 1 building code to update accessibility and compliance provisions), ORD-3-25 (amendments aligning 1- and 2-family dwelling code with state code, adding extensions and compliance provisions), and ORD-4-25 (amendments to the energy conservation code providing certain exemptions and alignments with state code). Council dispensed with further reading, then approved the three ordinances on final passage via roll call.
The council also placed two other ordinances on the second-reading calendar after unanimous consent: ORD-6-205 (amending Title 9 Chapter 5 electrical code for inspector certification and compliance) and ORD-7-205 (amending fire prevention code Title 5 Chapter 12 to add requirements for lithium batteries and related provisions).
