Florence Unified honors retiring CFO Beverly Myers, features student leaders and future school principals

Superintendent Knutson introduced Beverly Myers and thanked her for 18 years as the district’s business office leader and chief financial officer. Knutson said Myers took over at a time of “real difficult financial strain” and “kept us on the right track,” and the board gave Myers an extended round of applause.
Student leaders and featured schools
The board recognized two feature schools. Russell (Rusty) Smith, principal at Florence K-8, introduced student council president Ava Monzanito, who described student-council activities including a shoe-and-sock drive, pep assemblies, and a year-end carnival. Jaden Andrews, National Junior Honor Society president, summarized service projects including campus cleanups, participation in Pinal County Adoption Day and volunteer work with elderly community members.
Anthem K-8 principal Leah Alisa introduced student council president Aneta (Anita) Davila, who reviewed fundraisers, a haunted hallway fall festival, Reading Under the Stars and athletics highlights. Staff awards at Anthem honored paraprofessional Bonnie Rabelhofer as classified employee of the month and Tanya Chamblin as certified employee of the month; the principal and staff praised both employees for their support of students.
San Tan Mountain Middle School leadership message
Recorded remarks included a short address by the incoming principal identified in the recordings as Dr. Sheets and assistant principal Heather Zertucci. The pre‑recorded message invited incoming students to select school colors (options given as purple and white; purple and gold; black and orange; light blue and gold) and a mascot (the Storm; Miners; Wolves; Lions) for the new school’s inaugural 2025–26 year.
Other recognitions
The meeting also included routine student medal presentations across district schools (Florence High School, Poston Butte, Santan Foothills and others) and staff acknowledgements for volunteer and service activities.
