York City SD Board elects Lisa Kennedy president, names Leonard vice president; Diane Brown served as temporary president

The Board of the School District of the City of York, Pennsylvania held its annual reorganization meeting Dec. 2, 2024, and elected Lisa Kennedy as president and Director Leonard as vice president. Jeff Gettle, the board solicitor, opened the meeting and called the session to order.

The board first chose Diane Brown as temporary president to preside over the reorganizational votes. "I'm gonna call this meeting to order. It's the December 2, 2024 annual reorganization meeting," said Jeff Gettle, the board solicitor, as the meeting began.

With nominations opened for the office of president, Lisa Kennedy and Marjorie Orr were nominated. The board conducted a roll-call vote after nominations were closed. During the roll call several directors announced votes for Kennedy; other directors announced votes for Orr. The board secretary reported a final tally of seven votes for Kennedy and two votes for Orr. The board then recognized Lisa Kennedy as president; President Kennedy thanked members for their support, saying, "Thank you, everybody. I appreciate the support and continued work as a team."

The board next filled the vice president role. Marjorie Orr and Director Leonard were nominated for vice president. The board held a roll-call vote and the secretary announced a tally of five votes for Director Leonard and four votes for Orr, electing Director Leonard as vice president.
