Byram Hills Board adopts professional learning plan through 2028

The Byram Hills Central School District Board of Education on Dec. 10 adopted the district—s professional learning plan, a multiyear framework required by New York State.
Tim, a district staff member presenting the plan, told the board that the plan is revised periodically by the professional learning committee and that this year—s rewrite covers structures and opportunities for teacher training, including programs targeted at new teachers and a mentor program facilitated by Gina. "So each year, the board approves the professional learning plan ... The professional learning committee meets annually to review the plan and also reflect upon our professional learning opportunities," Tim said.
Board members motioned and voted to adopt the plan for implementation through 2028. No roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting transcript; the motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
The adopted plan is intended to guide professional development offerings and supports for teachers districtwide. The district indicated the plan will be used for annual scheduling of professional learning activities and supports the mentor program and other districtwide teacher development efforts.
Ending: District staff said the plan will guide professional-learning programming and return to the board as part of usual reporting on implementation and outcomes.
